Rambling musings on the state of Spanking

In a recent posting, Aunty wondered if there really is an increase in spanking interest and play among the "youth of today."

With the proliferation of images and clips like the one above, our generation has unprecedented access to images and video clips featuring everyday people indulging in "fun spanking" play.

Aunty has no doubt that such "fun spanking" was alive and well in the generations that preceded us. For example, this old black and white picture what is almost certainly a fun spanking on par with any modern non-disciplinary spanking posted on Webshots or YouTube.

Could it be that we are exposed to more images of spanking fun in the early 21st century because of our revolutionary ability to communicate and share? Or is it that the Internet, along with certain hiphop songs, have acted to make the "fun spanking" fashionable?

Aunty has noticed that some commenters see the apparent rise in "fun spanking"as a sign of an increase in "out" spankos.

Unfortunately, it is more probable that there remains a vast gulf between most committed spankos and the posters of these images and video clips. Whereas the latter might conceivably regard spanking as fun, mildly sexy, or both - at the end of the day most are vanillas, more interested in other expressions of human intimacy.

This contrasts with Aunty, and very many of her readers, who probably require receiving, administering, or viewing a spanking to have any satisfying intimacy at all.

I'm sure that the advent of home video in the 1970s, and the Internet of late, has made "fun spankings" much more accessible than they were before.

Like many of my era, I had nurtured secret spanking fantasies for years. Never dared let any of my vanilla friends know. But in the early 1980s, as videotapes from spanking entrepreneurs became available, I began to collect them... and eventually, I came "out."

The Internet, too, has made spanking images much more available than they were before. We may actually be at the threshold of a new renaissance.

Cheers,
Dan

You sum up the situation very well, I think. We are a sexual minority. Even gays and lesbians seem ubiquitous compared to us. Guess that makes a strong proud spanko network/community all that much more important.

I think that you are right -- more photos & video of "fun spankings" from non-spankos are floating around.

I would think, however, that more people are playing at "fun spankings" than in the past -- if the past means 50+ years ago.

Young men & especially young women have more freedom now than they did then; for example, to attend colleges far from home (and thus live in a less supervised environment than the parental home), and to mix more freely with members of the opposite sex.

So they can play at spanking each other. I hope that they love these games. However, I don't think that they are all going to become dedicated spankos because of some birthday shenanigans.
