Aunty Agony

When Aunty visited London, England a couple of years ago, she noticed a few spanking-themed porn stores nestled amongst very trendy restaurants, coffee bars and cafes in the Soho district.

She even visited a couple - including the famous Janus Bookshop which appeared to be going strong at that time.

When she saw this picture posted at Spanking Blog, her first thought was that "Spankarama" must be one of those surviving London establishments. Her second thought was to wonder at the lack of privacy provided by those stairs to the spanking delights in the basement. Let's face it, the signs on the windows do not exactly lend the store an air of discretion.

So, Aunty was greatly amused by blogger James Stephenson's account of his embarrassing attempt to visit Spankarama:

I had seen "Spankarama" before but had been with other people and had to not look too interested. However in my early twenties I found myself in London alone and spotted it again. I walked past the entrance several times before feeling able to dive through the doorway and start down the stairs. I froze - at the bottom of the stairs were a bunch of workmen demolishing walls and rebuilding the place. By a stroke of unfortunate timing I'd finally got the opportunity to visit just as it been closed down but before the front display had been removed.
